Honoring Our Collective Success
Last week, I shared the incredible milestone of launching our nonprofit, and the overwhelming support from this community has filled my heart beyond measure. As we transition from June into July and beyond, I find myself in a season of pure celebration—not just of my own accomplishments, but of the extraordinary people who make up my circle of friends, colleagues, and chosen family.
Love Is in the Air
Two of my dear friends and clients recently got engaged, and I couldn't be more thrilled! There's something magical about witnessing love bloom, and I'm already excited about styling their hair and helping them plan their dream wedding. Seeing people I care about find their person and take that beautiful step forward fills me with such joy.
Traveling to Celebrate Excellence
These past weeks have taken me on a beautiful journey across cities, each destination marking another reason to celebrate the success of those I love most. From Philadelphia to Jamaica, Atlanta to Chicago, I've been intentional about showing up for the people who consistently show up for life with purpose and passion.
Golden Birthday Bliss in Jamaica
Jamaica gifted me the opportunity to celebrate my girlfriend Darica's 50th birthday, and witnessing her in her element was truly inspiring. She's healthy, happy, and absolutely thriving in her career. Her children are grown and flourishing, and being in her space—taking time away from work to simply celebrate friendship and reminisce about our shared memories—reminded me why intentional relationships are everything.
The Brow King's Decade of Excellence
One of the highlights was traveling to Philadelphia to celebrate my best friend Nicholas Townsend, the renowned "Brow King of Philadelphia," as he marked an incredible 10 years in the business. His celebration at The Fiddler—a prestigious venue where business minds connect and magic happens—was absolutely stunning. The décor was sophisticated dark blue and white, and in a moment of perfect synchronicity, my outfit matched the theme completely. I had no idea, but it spoke to the deep alignment between my friend's vision and my instinct to support him wholeheartedly.
After working with my amazing clients in Baltimore, I caught the train to Philadelphia because some celebrations are simply non-negotiable. We continued the night with drinks at the Four Seasons, and let me tell you—the Four Seasons Philadelphia might just be the finest in the entire United States. The laughter, the memories, the pure joy of celebrating a friend's success—these are the moments that make life extraordinary.
Reality Dreams Coming True
Atlanta calls next, where I'll be celebrating Sherri J as she launches her new reality show. There's something incredibly powerful about watching a friend's dreams manifest into reality, and I wouldn't miss this moment for anything.
Chicago Business Queens
The month will conclude with a trip to Chicago, where I'll celebrate with my girls who are making moves in the business world. These women inspire me daily with their determination and success.
Family Celebrations: Mental Health Matters
I can't close without celebrating my very special twin sister, Robin V, who is launching her own networking club focused on mental health awareness. She has an exciting brunch event coming up on August 9th, and I'm so proud of her commitment to creating spaces for important conversations about mental wellness.
The Power of Intentional Community
This season has reinforced something I've always believed: we become who we surround ourselves with. I'm intentional about building community with people who are moving forward, accomplishing their goals, and operating with a like-minded spirit of growth and celebration.
When we celebrate each other's wins, we create a ripple effect of positivity and motivation. When we show up for the big moments—and the small ones—we build the kind of relationships that sustain us through every season of life.
